Waikaremoana Waitoki ( Ngati Mahanga, Ngati Hako tribes) is a co-convenor of the National Standing Committee on Bicultural Issues (NSCBI), and the President Elect of the New Zealand Psychological Society. She is the Senior Research Officer for the Maori and Psychology Research Unit (MPRU) in the School of Psychology at the University of Waikato.She is also a Clinical Psychologist working in adult mental health, and child and adolescent mental health areas. Waikaremoana is keenly interested in Indigenous psychology and Indigenous solutions to everyday issues. Through developing Indigenous knowledges, we can validate and affirm our peoples realities and strengthen their wellbeing. This is part of building resilience and is a protective factor against suicide.   In her spare time, Waikaremoana is a kyokushin karate instructor.
